Snow Flashback...

Weather calls for snow flurries today and it reminded me of the big snowfall we had earlier in the year. These are statue horses on Belle Meade Blvd in Nashville...but in the snow they looked so real, as if they were enjoying mother nature at her finest.

Stillness of Snow

In Madeira, I captured the stillness of nature under a foot of snow. The tree line in a distance covered with snow is so peaceful. One wouldn't know there was a hill full of cabin-fever elementary school kids racing down the hills in their sleds nearby.

Snowy Pine

Tired of the snow yet? At least continue to enjoy its beauty! Branch of a pine tree..you can see how "soft" the snow is sitting on its needles. :)

Frozen Fruit

It is absolutely beautiful out! A frozen fruit (Crab Apple?) tree captured in Sawyer Point Park in Cincinnati, OH.

A Snowy Drive

Today there is more snow on the ground and the roads are worse than I ever remember! This is a "secondary road" - Hanley in White Oak; yes, I'm driving. You can't see where the roads begin or end, but what a beautiful Winter Wonderland!

Cardinal in Falling Snow

The snow continues to fall...another cardinal braving the elements out in the cold.

"Wings of Flame" in the snowstorm

This bright red cardinal was perched was spotted in my parent's backyard. It was taken in the morning as the snow continued to fall; if you look close you may be able to see the streaks of snow falling. Very peaceful and beautiful!

Groundhog Day

Groundhog Phil saw his shadow today, so winter stays a while longer! I couldn't find a groundhog to take a picture of, but this squirrell is praying for the snow to melt so he can get back to his normal routine. (this picture was cropped after the fact to focus in closer on him)

First day of February

It's the first day of February and the snow continues to cripple the city of Nashville. Sticking with the theme, here is another nice snow pic I took earlier this week. Interesting to see the stillness in what is normally such an active park, these swings are rarely vacant.

Sunny Sunday...with snow

What a difference a day makes! Centennial Park in Nashville has a life-size replica of the Parthenon from Athens, Greece. Pictures were captured yesterday (gloomy, grey skies) and today (blue skies and sunny). As you can see, today was a beautiful sunny day, but still chilly.

Saturday Snowfall in Nashville

After all of the fuss here in Nashville, we ended up with about 4" of snow on the ground, with a nice covering of sleet/ice, making for what I like to call "crunchy" snow... couldn't do a snow angel, but would make a great snowball! This picture is simply a snapshot of our street, with the street sign. Kids are sled riding ON the streets since they are so icy! Nashville doesn't have the snow removal equipment like the northern states, so secondary streets haven't even been thought about.

My First Nashville Snowfall

It is a snowy day here in Nashville! The forecast is calling for up to 7" of snow, but I ventured out with about 2" on the ground to capture a few pics! This is part of the magnolia tree in our front yard, with the tree line of pines in the background. It sure is pretty! This is the most snowfall we've seen since moving here!
