Final shot of formations near the end of our tour - stalagmites and stalactites. Remember those forming from the ground up "might" reach the ceiling one day, while the others are hanging on "tight" above. :)

Frozen Niagara Falls

There is a reason this particular part of the cave is called "Frozen Niagara". This picture hardly does justice to the magnitude of the cave formation that does resemble a huge waterfall!

The sky is falling!!

Our second tour of the day was much shorter, but different. Cave boulders were prevalent on the "New Entrance" tour, that has been open since about 1910. :) Lots of neat formations, tight crevices and huge boulders lined the paths.

Mammoth Cave, KY

A day trip to visit Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. Our guide filled our minds with information on the History Cave Tour, and we got to experience what "pitch black" means. Mammoth Cave is the world's longest cave (over 300 miles and growing!).
It was difficult to capture good photos in such poor lighting conditions with no tripod, but I did manage to capture a few shots of our experience.
